Help Allie Beat Leukemia

Donation protected

This is my sister, Allie.

Primarily, Allie is a dog mom with a soul for adventure. She’s a daughter, a sister, a friend, and she is loved by so many. For all her life, Allie has the ability to befriend everyone she meets. And it’s likewise; Allie loves, and often with all her heart.

Allie has a heart of gold and a soul of light. She enjoys the little things in life. Kayaking on a quiet morning, going on late night drives in her beloved truck, and spending too much time with her family. However, her favorite thing to do is to be with her dogs.

Allie has always been involved with her church. In the past, she has gone on mission trips to Haiti – it was her way to give back after the disaster struck. She attends Red Cedar Church on Sundays to fulfill her close relationship with God.

All it took was one moment to change everything. At the young age of 23, Allie has to face a reality that only few do: undergoing treatment for two incredibly rare illnesses.

The doctors were clueless when Allie went in with spontaneous, recurrent blisters on her face. Through testing, the labs weren’t adding up to a diagnosis. It took weeks before it was discovered she had Sweets Syndrome – a rare inflammatory skin condition. This diagnosis rose eyebrows, why now? With more bloodwork, it was found that Sweets Syndrome came hand-in-hand with a diagnosis no one was ready to hear: Myelodysplastic Syndrome. In other words, pre-leukemia. The doctors have determined that this will lead to Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It could be tomorrow, it could be a few weeks from now, but it is guaranteed to happen.

To make the situation even more devastating, Allie didn’t have insurance when she was hit with both of her diagnoses. While we are relentlessly trying to find a way to get her covered, we know that fighting this battle is going to leave Allie with massive amounts of medical debt.

Meanwhile, Allie is forced to leave her job for full-time treatment. This Monday, November 18th, Allie will be leaving to Marshfield to begin intensive chemotherapy. Not only will she have to pay for her medical expenses but by being out of work, she will struggle to pay for her daily life expenses like food and bills. Our family hopes that if you are able to contribute in this time of need, we can help alleviate some of the costs Allie is getting ready to face. It warms our hearts to know that Allie won’t have to go through this alone, but together – with the Barron community to back her up. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your thoughts, prayers, and generosity.
