Sweet little Thor unfortunately left his loving family and kitty brother Loki behind at only 1 year old.
Without any warning, on Friday, October 31, he started acting unusual, foaming at the mouth, and struggling to breathe. His owners, Allie and Spencer, took him to the vet where they put a scope down his throat to check for blockages and found fluid in his lungs. At first, they were told they could either put him down or drive 20 minutes to the emergency vet where it was very unlikely he would make it there.
They decided to fight for him and drove him to the emergency vet where they were able to stabilize him and run more tests, desperately trying to find what was wrong.
Once he was stable, around 10 pm, Allie and Spencer went home to comfort Thor's brother Loki and wait for any updates. They had a moment of hope when his heart results came back clear. But just after midnight, a call came through with the worst news. Thor's heart stopped, they were trying CPR but weren't having any luck bringing him back, and even if they did, they weren't sure how long he would last. Unfortunately, they weren't able to bring him back. It turns out there was so much cat hair built up in his esophagus that he wasn't able to breathe. The first scope somehow was able to slip through the side of the buildup and completely missed it. A horrible, heartbreaking fluke.
Allie and Spencer are absolutely devastated. Loki is so confused, constantly looking around for his brother. Not only are they grieving this shock of a loss, they're now weighed down with the financial burden of all the tests and visits. Due to medical reasons, Spencer has been out of work for a bit and has been applying to get a new job, so they have already been struggling on one income.
No one should have to grieve their sweet pet at such a young age. They didn't have nearly enough time with Thor in their lives. I'm making this in hopes that they can grieve their loss without stress and worry about the financial burden on top of the pain. Please help them out.
