This is my twin sister, Alli Wahl, and her beloved horse, Indy.
Alli and Indy were a one-of-a-kind pair. Indy brought the wild, free spirit — and Alli brought the calm and steady hand. Together, they made an incredible team. Alli dreamed of becoming a barrel racer and horse trainer, and Indy was helping make that dream come true. Their rodeo times were steadily improving, and they were finally hitting their stride.
Sadly, Indy colicked suddenly Thursday night, October 9, 2025. She was rushed to Colorado State University’s veterinary hospital for surgery, but the damage couldn’t be repaired. Indy was humanely euthanized early Friday morning.
Alli had Indy for only five short years, but they shared a bond deeper than words. Indy would follow her anywhere — no rope needed — and trusted her completely. Losing Indy has left a hole in Alli’s heart that can’t be filled.
But this heartbreak comes after an already challenging year.
Earlier this year, Alli — at just 17 — was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism (blood clots in lungs). She spent months on blood thinners and missed the end of her wrestling season. Later testing revealed a rare blood-clotting disorder, meaning she’ll need to stay on medication for life and will be unable to wrestle her third and final year as a high school senior as well as potentially needing to reevaluate her career path.
Even with all of that, Alli has stayed positive and determined. She’s finishing her senior year of high school while taking community college classes in Equine Training, chasing her dream career with all she has.
Now, after losing her best friend and partner, she’s facing the emotional and financial weight of vet bills, training setbacks, and medical expenses — all at once.
We’re asking for help to support Alli through this incredibly difficult time — to help with Indy’s emergency vet costs, her ongoing equine training expenses, and to remind her she’s not alone in this.
Any donation, no matter the amount, means more than you know. If you can’t donate, please share her story.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping Alli heal and keep chasing her dreams. ❤️
