It is with extremely heavy hearts to announce that our adoption has been disrupted. We matched with a birth mother who lived in California on April 15th and was due on September 15th. We could not have been more excited for a due date right before the holidays. Craig and I envisioned the family Halloween costumes, sitting around the table at Thanksgiving with a baby, and Christmas morning. Unfortunately, on July 28th our match was disrupted and we learned that we would no longer be bringing home a baby in September. To be extremely clear we do not hold any ill will against the birth mother and we do not think she was trying to scam us.

The average domestic infant adoption in the U.S. is currently between $40,000-$60,000 (this covers birth parent care, medical expenses, legal fees, agency fees, etc.). When you match with a mother you pay a large sum of money upfront, then pay some money monthly, and finally have post-placement costs. We paid approximately $40,000 and were paying monthly expenses as well. With the failed adoption we lost over $20,000. To get back out on the market we need to restore our funds. We are asking for help raising $10,000 so that we can have the funds to try again.

We understand this is a big ask from the people in our lives, but we believe that we have the village to accomplish this task. Craig and I want nothing more than to be parents and truly believe that adoption is our path. We truly appreciate any financial support you can provide to help us bring home a child.
