PDX ball hockey has always been more about the bonds and friendships we create, than it is about hockey, in my opinion. That’s why I’m asking you all to contribute to this fundraiser for our beloved goalie John Compton.

John is a close friend of mine from my early days in Portland. Last season, when I tore my knee, John went on to play like 38 games in PDX covering for me and other goalies, certainly a record.

Compton reached out to me in March letting me know that his long time partner and girlfriend Theresa, had been struggling with some chest pain and odd health issues. She finally went to the ER when she was having trouble breathing. Everyone’s worst fears were realized when Theresa was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver, Lung, Lymph node, and bone cancer.

Comptons life has revolved around being at work, the hospital, and getting home with just enough time to fall asleep so that he can do it all over again the next day. Not to mention, obviously Theresa cannot work anymore.

I am asking people to donate what they can, so that Compton and Theresa don’t have to worry about money when they should be worried about enjoying their time with each other. Feel free to reach out to me personally with any questions.
