Hi, my name is Araceli Velasco and sadly to say on August 14th not only did I lose an extraordinary co-worker but this community lost a wonderful mother, wife, friend and healthcare worker due to cancer. Mary Ann has worked two full time jobs in nursing homes as a CNA throughout the pandemic, unfortunately Ann and her husband got Corona Virus in which Ann had to be hospitalized, thereafter she got pneumonia and bronchitis causing her to be in and out of the hospital due to complications which then left Ann and her family with financial difficulties. In March 2021 Ann got diagnosed with cancer and her and her husband had to stop working in order to care for Ann's needs such as treatments and appointments. I remember speaking with Ann and her sharing with me her concerns about the financial burden she has caused upon her family not knowing how she would pay for all the bills, specially since her two sons are attending college and already have many expenses to deal with. Thank you so much for your interest, please let us come together to bring ease to this family by alleviating at least the financial aspect to this sudden tragedy.
