Help Allen's Family with Emergency Travel Costs

Donation protected

Dear Family and Friends,

Allen Wiseman, my brother, a healthy 44-year-old man, suffered a cardiac arrest during what was supposed to be a very routine medical procedure in Miami, FL.

Our mom got the call while visiting us in Arizona, on Friday the 26th, that we needed to be in Miami ASAP as Allen was on life support at Jackson Memorial's trauma center. We flew out early Saturday morning to be with Allen and talk to the doctors in charge of his care.

Allen was brought to the Jackson Memorial hospital by the specialist he was originally seeing. He arrived there with his heart not beating. They were able to restart his heart, however, they do not know how long his brain and organs were without oxygen and blood flow. They estimate at least 5 minutes but are not really sure. He is now hooked up to a ventilator so they can help him breathe. He is on a heavy sedative that they want to wean him off of and start him on a lighter one so they can wake him more quickly. However, thus far they have not been able to get him on the other sedative safely. When they have tried to wake him, he does not follow the doctor's commands. They say he's also having pain from his prior procedure and this is causing a lot of agitation when he starts to wake. Now it is just a painstaking waiting game to see if his brain can heal and if he can come off the life support. At this point, the doctors are unsure of the damage his brain has taken. This is the biggest concern.

My mom has taken on the financial burden of the plane tickets for her and I as well as the hotel and food expenses. Miami, FL is very expensive. So far with the 10-day hotel stay, her out-of-pocket expense for just the hotel and plane tickets for herself and I are at $4,203.08. This does not include food, parking, or any other little expenses we run into. We also do not know how long she'll need to stay here with him and how many more expenses we'll suffer.

If you are able to help with this financial burden, we thank you. Also above all else, we need your prayers. Pray for Allen's good, and God's glory. Whatever the Lord's will, we are at peace. Of course, we are praying and hoping the Lord will bless us with more years with him!

If you have any questions or concerns, please private message me directly. Thank you for the prayers and support we've received from our loved ones so far and thank you for reading this and your consideration.

UPDATE - The doctors want to get Allen off the vintalator and do a tracheotomy instead within the next couple of days. This will allow him to wake more comfortably. Once they have him awake they can evaluate his mental state. If this is successful he will need to stay at minimum 2 more weeks. This is if everything goes perfectly as planned. We know in these medical situations they usually don't go as planned. We plan to move into an extended stay airbnb within the next couple of days. This will cost her another $3,000 at least. We are so thankful for the help received so far, we don't want to increase the goal. But, please keep sharing and praying for Allen. God bless every one that has shared, helped financially, and for all the prayers.
