My name is Karen Apel and Allen Brown and I have been friends for many years. My husband and I are in Small Group with Allen at Hunter Street Baptist.

You might know Allen Mal Brown from Hewitt Trussville (The Class of 1978), The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Red Elephant Club, First Baptist Church Trussville, Shades Mountain Baptist, Hunter Street Baptist, Deltacom or maybe from Light Bulb Depot.

If you know Allen, you know his love for a good joke or story, a kind heart and Alabama anything, especially Alabama Football!

Allen has been in Grandview hospital for 2 weeks. Yesterday, his sister, Ginger, made the very difficult decision to place him on hospice. Allen and Giger are extremely close. They have no other immediate family.

Allen went into the hospital for routine stent placements in late May and had a stroke shortly following the procedure. He has been unable to recover due to diabetes, carotid disease in the brain, blood pressure complications, and other issues.

Allen is only covered by Medicare and a small supplemental policy and his out of pocket expenses have mounted and continue to do so daily.

Anything you can do to help would be appreciated.
