My name is Allen, and I’m a first-generation, low-income (FGLI) student who just moved to the states from an island close to Greece, I got accepted to Columbia University a dream I’ve worked towards for years.

Throughout high school, I pushed myself academically, volunteered in my community, and held a part-time job for the past 2.5 years to save up for college and I’ve managed to save up quite a lot, but unfortunately, it’s still not quite enough to cover the costs I need to commit and attend my first semester at Columbia.

I’ve explored every possible resource scholarships, financial aid, and more, but I’m falling just short. I wouldn’t be asking if I had any other option, but with deadline approaching, i am now asking for help.

This support wouldn’t just help me start college it would allow me to build a stable foundation. I plan to get a job during my first semester and support myself through the rest of my college journey. I’m not looking for a handout, just a hand to help me get started.

I currently do not have a bank account in the states so I am transferring it to my friend’s bank account and I will receive it through him.:)
