Allan Decker is the strongest man I know, and if you know him, he is probably the strongest man you know as well.
Last Sunday, his plow truck caught on fire in his garage, and just two days later, he had an ischemic stroke, affecting his PCA and basilar artery. He has been in the hospital for a week, on a ventilator, and with mild responsiveness.
While in the hospital, the insurance adjusters have come out to check the damage to the garage and unfortunately are not covering the plow truck. My parents live on a private road that is not maintained by the town, and they cannot be left without a plow truck. On top of all of this, my dad's insurance is switching today to a coverage they will have to pay for.
For years, this man has given to whoever, helped whenever, and loved with all of his heart. It has been amazing to see the impact he has had in people's lives, and as everyone asks how they can help, the thing that they need the most is financial help. Not only do they have more expenses, will need to get a new plow truck, and will have medical bills, they also have lost his income.
Update (December 1st) Dad is going in to surgery to get the trach and feeding tube placed. They were unsuccessful at this surgery two days ago due to complications and needed to make sure they had the specialist on hand to do the procedure.
