Aliyah Dawson is a recent graduate of Centennial High in Compton, California. I am a former teacher of hers and started this GoFundMe site to help her get to her dream HBCU Alabama A & M University. She was accepted, but is facing some financial obstacles. She is originally from WATTS and was living with her grandpa and 6 other siblings. This past week, her grandpa passed away and now she faces many of these academic financial burdens on her own. She no longer has the finances readily available for her to fly out to Alabama. Furthermore, when she is on the wait list for dorms, so when she flies out she will be staying with a relative and is in need of groceries and daily expenses.
She wants to go to school for Psychology and hopefully continue her cheerleading, which she was on for four years at Centennial. Her passions are to become a child psychologist. She knows what it feels like to not have someone to talk to and wants to be that for other children. She wants to let them know that life isn't perfect and rainbows and desires to be there for them during their most challenging stages of life.
I wanted to make this GoFundMe for Aliyah because she is a student that never faced her challenges in life with negativity and always has kept a smile on her face. I would love for the community to support her in getting the following things she needs for college:
-Macbook $2000
-Airflight to Alabama $400
-Groceries for the next 4 months $2500
-Dorm kit (bedding, mirrors, toiletries.....): $2000
-Any additional funding that is raised will go to her first years tuition
