Help a Single Mom Rebuild After Hurricane Milton

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf of a remarkable single mom, Alix, and her sweet daughter, Kali. Hurricane Milton left their home severely damaged, with floodwaters sweeping through and leaving nearly everything ruined. As a single mom of an autistic child, Alix’s journey is already one marked by resilience, but this recent disaster has hit her family harder than words can express.

Kali, Alix’s five-year-old daughter, is an incredible child who thrives in a structured, familiar environment. Due to her autism, any disruption to her daily life can be particularly distressing. With their home now flooded and damaged, Kali has been struggling with the change and the uncertainty that this disaster has brought to her safe space.

As a single mother, Alix has worked tirelessly to give Kali the stability and support she needs, but the reality of recovering from this kind of damage without flood insurance is overwhelming. It should be noted, Alix's home is not located in a flood zone and was therefore not required to carry flood insurance.

FEMA has offered some relief with an estimate of $10,000, but assessments show that it will cost at least $35,000 to make the repairs needed to make the home livable again. This leaves Alix facing a gap of $25,000—an amount far beyond what she can handle alone.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 to help cover the remaining cost of repairs. The funds will go toward essential work, like replacing flooring, restoring walls, and ensuring their home is safe and accessible for Kali. Every donation, no matter the size, will make an immediate impact, bringing Alix and Kali closer to returning to a home that feels safe and familiar again.

If you’re able, please help this dedicated single mom rebuild and provide a sense of security for her daughter in this challenging time. Alix has always done everything she can to be the rock in Kali’s life. Now, let’s come together and be that support for them.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Every dollar brings them one step closer to home.

Below are a few pictures of the damaged caused by the Hurricane. We will continue to update the page with estimate updates as they are received.
