My name is Alissa Breaux, a mother of three with 8 grandchildren. January 2020 started off good for me. I financed a new car to be a Lyft driver part-time. I loved my job, getting out the house, meeting new people every day. It felt good providing a essential need to the community. That all changed March of 2020 when the Pandemic came, and we had to shelter in place.
At that time my daughter and her three kids were living with me as well. She then got employed and was working for BART. I have an autoimmune disease, and her job put me at a higher risk of getting Covid-19, so her and her children moved out. And that's where the hardship took place. I'm disabled so I currently receive SSI. And I'm also on the Section 8 program with a 3 bedroom voucher. Once she moved out my voucher size went to a 1 bedroom. So then my portion of the rent went from $250 to $1,300. Due to shelter in place I couldn't relocate.
January of 2021 I got out of bed and fell, I had broken my back and also a new health complication "vasculitis". Which made me bed bound. I've been hospitalized at least 4 times this year. Most rent was September 2021. "Housing is Key" has approved my application and are going to pay the back rent I owe.
All I need is money to cover moving expenses. The U-Haul, supplies, movers and debris. I've been at this residence for 9 years. Once I'm in my voucher size, my income will support my needs. And I can focus on getting my health in order.

I have a great support to team to help me along this journey. Thanks for your time, patience, and donations. Volunteers are also welcomed as I need all the help I can receive.
Sincerely,
Alissa Breaux
