Help Alisha needs a Life-Saving Surgery
Donation protected
I’m starting this GoFundMe campaign on behalf of my daughter, Alisha
Alisha McCoullough. Has been battling stomach issues for as long as she can remember. She experiences daily abdominal pain, difficulty eating, which has led to extreme weight loss and various other symptoms. She has seen numerous doctors, specialists, and had several emergency room visits, but unfortunately got no answers and has been misdiagnosed multiple times. She used to weigh around 140 pounds and now weighs 97 pounds.
In the past year she found a new primary doctor, Dr. Zane Cooke, and shared concerns with him. He’s dedicated to investigating her condition and has recently diagnosed her with MALS syndrome (Median arcuate ligament syndrome). And SMA syndrome having a diagnosis felt like a relief. However, research revealed how rare these conditions are, and we discovered that there aren’t many doctors familiar with them.
we eventually found Dr. Danny Shouhed in Santa Monica, California.
After undergoing further tests and receiving two confirmed diagnoses, we spoke with Dr. Shouhed again. The only option now is to undergo surgery to address both conditions and both are life threatening it’s essential for survival. The surgery is scheduled for July 1, 2025, in Santa Monica, California, and is estimated to last around 6 hours. Alisha will be hospitalized for at least a week and will remain in California for another 2 weeks after discharge. This will make it approximately 3 weeks in California altogether.
After surgery, she will have a feeding tube (GJ feeding tube) and a percutaneous intravenous catheter (PICC line) for about 10 weeks. She will need home health care and will be out of work for at least 4 months her wife will assist her during this time but will also need to be out of work for approximately 4 weeks. We kindly request any assistance and prayers during this challenging period.
