Help Cancer Survivor Alisha Find Relief from Chronic Pain

Donation protected
Hello, everyone! I'm writing on behalf of my friend Alisha, who I've known since fifth grade.

For those who don’t know her, Alisha was diagnosed with Stage 4 Inflammatory Breast Cancer in February of 2023 that had already spread to her bones and liver, especially concentrated in her pelvis and right hip.

After intense chemotherapy and the fight of her life, she now has no active cancer showing on her most recent PET scan. Praise God! While her doctor is not using the term “remission,” it is a good sign that her cancer is dormant.

However, the cancer, and even the treatments themselves, have left her in chronic, excruciating pain, especially as her bones were heavily damaged from the cancer, weakening them to the point of creating micro-fractures and even an impending fracture that went undetected. Last May, she had rods and screws put into her right hip (almost a total hip replacement).

She’s tried various treatments for her pain, but nothing has helped give her total relief. The “further away” from her cancer treatments she’s gotten, the less her doctors have been able to help her find a permanent long-term solution, even to the point of sending her home with that impending fracture in her right hip and telling her to just “take Tylenol and turmeric for the pain.”

A few months ago, her desperation for pain relief came to a point of attempting to take her own life because she saw no end to the cycle of pain and hopelessness. Thankfully, her husband found her in time to get help and to finally be heard by doctors.

Through this whole journey, Alisha has tried to stay positive, but the chronic pain has become a constant presence that overshadows everything good in her life, from playing with her five-year old daughter Olivia, to preventing her from going back to work as a nurse. She would like to get out-of-pocket therapies that she knows help alleviate her pain, as well as to try alternative treatments recommended by her naturopathic doctor, but all of this has been out of reach financially to this point.

This woman has been so strong, has been through so much, and has still tried to deal with chronic pain from stage IV cancer. If you are feeling compelled to help her, she would love to be able to afford pain management therapies. There is no amount too small that would be a blessing to her. If inflation has gotten the best of you, would you consider praying for her? Her faith in God has sustained her when nothing else has, and she would be so encouraged to know there are people out there who are lifting her physical needs up in prayer. Thank you all so much for caring for Alisha!
