It is 2026 but nothing has changed on this end! Please consider your ability to help. Ali and his family came to the United States three years ago after being evacuated from Afghanistan. Ali is a devoted father of six children plus two back in Afghanistan who were too young to make the trip, and together they have worked hard to build a new life in Central Ohio. For two decades, Ali served as an interpreter (He speaks 8 different langages) for the US military, standing side by side with our servicemen in Afghanistan. His dedication and bravery put him at great personal risk, and his service was the reason he and his family were brought to safety in the US.
Recently, Ali’s work authorization expired, and he is waiting for USCIS to issue a new one while he awaits the adjudication of his green card.”
This has put his family in an incredibly vulnerable position. If forced to return to Afghanistan, Ali faces grave danger because of his service to our country. On top of this, the family’s SNAP benefits and other forms of assistance have been cancelled, leaving them struggling to cover basic needs like rent, food, utilities, and transportation. Despite these challenges, Ali has worked so hard to give back to the community by starting his own nonprofit, Immigrants Integration Station, to help other Afghan families in Central Ohio. He also recently graduated from the Columbus New American Leadership Academy, showing his commitment to making a positive impact.
Ali doesn’t let any sand settle under his feet. He is a true connector, building relationships with the movers and shakers in the interfaith communities as well as throughout the city. His energy and determination have helped him create a strong network of support, not just for his own family, but for many others in need.
We are asking for your support to help Ali and his family through this crisis. Your donation will help them cover essential living expenses and seek the legal assistance they need to remain safely in the US. Ali has given so much to our country and our community—now, he and his family need our help. Please consider contributing and sharing their story to help them stay safe and stable during this difficult time.
