My name is Kelsey Muske and our friend Aline Mohymont is in need of help and kindness at this difficult moment in her life.

Aline has struggled with a number of personal setbacks which I will briefly describe.

Aline suffered health issues following an assault in 2016 where she was left her for dead with a concussion, broken jaw, lacerations and facial fractures. Her brain trauma was so severe she had to relearn some English (as an ESL speaker) as well as battle memory loss. She did puzzles and wrote poetry to try to regain her skills. She also suffered major inner ear trauma from the beating which threatened her ability to walk – with hard work and persistence, she regained her strength and her ability to walk. Shortly after, she contracted Typhus which almost killed her due to her weakened immune system. After that, she was the victim of a botched surgery that left her in even greater pain and financially depleted due to expensive medical bills and time away from her business. She was never compensated. As a result of all of these health issues, Aline lost her business that she had worked so hard to establish.

She pressed on doing her best to keep her head above water but suffered another blow when her storage unit was broken into (twice!) and was hit with overwhelming veterinary bills as she struggled to keep her two beloved and ailing rescue cats in good health. Banks began to close her lines of credit as her apartment (the cheapest available in LA) literally crumbled around her with a collapsed ceiling, broken pipes and flooding destroying many of her belongings.

Aline’s story is one of great hardship. Any number of these experiences can break a person but Aline remains incredibly positive and is determined to overcome. She is currently facing the possibility of being homeless – losing her apartment and two beloved cats. It’s unimaginable to think that someone who has worked so hard but been dealt such a terrible hand could end up on the street but that is the reality of her situation.

I humbly ask that you spare whatever you can to help Aline, a hardworking Belgian immigrant, former business owner, friend, cat mama and genuinely good person. The smallest act of kindness could make the difference in changing her life.
