HELP ALINA TO BE ABLE TO HEAR
Donation protected
A beautiful, life loving 5 year old girl, Alina was born in Russia with a rare disorder affecting approximately 1 in 10,000 births. Unilateral atresia, which is an absence of the external auditory canal, leads to significant conductive hearing loss and has significant impact on the girls ability to locate sound or to perform in an academic setting.
According to the Dr. Joseph Robertson at Global Hearing, Inc located in East Palo Alto, California, Alina has a very high chance of getting a successful operation.
At this time, the operation is priced at $85,000 and could be performed as early as February 2020. Each year the cost of the surgery goes up and to reserve the spot a minimum of $5,000 is needed.
Alina was born in Russia, where such surgeries are not performed on pediatric patients. Also, Dr. Robertson and his office are not accepting any insurance payments.
The funds will help Alina to gain her hearing back and ease the burden of her parents to find the money for the surgery, which in Russia seem to be an absolutely unrealistic amount.
Alina's story was featured in local and regional newspapers and TV episodes in Russia, but her father, who is my classmate and the former neighbor have reached out with a desperate cry for help.
We kindly ask each of you to donate and to share this page. Together, we will be able to help this beautiful girl and her parents.
There are other ways you can help -
- reach out to me if you know of other places in US or other countries to get this surgery done
- if you could think and recommend a way to get a discounted rate for this surgery
Thank you all so much
