Welcome to my GoFundMe page. I am Alieu Sowe, founder of Plastics Recycling Gambia ♻️
With all our heart and soul, my team and I are building the only plastic recycling company in The Gambia. What began as a dream to make my country cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable has grown into a place where over 100 people find work and hope.
For years we have relied on third parties to help us collect and process plastic waste, such as renting expensive trucks. We now have to take control to step up on our mission for a clean, healthy and prosperous Gambia.
To ensure we can keep collecting and recycling plastic waste, and provide the Gambian community with jobs and a better future, we need your help. The funds raised will be used to:
- Purchase a truck to collect large volumes of plastic waste and transport the processed plastic materials directly to local buyers.
- Purchase a plastic shredder to keep the recycling process running for the large amounts of plastic waste demanded from the market. Our ability to process plastics efficiently depends on a reliable shredder.
- Improve our facility infrastructure to maintain operations. Our new recycling center requires critical upgrades; roofing, flooring, a borehole, and a standby generator.
With your support, we cannot only keep our business running but also continue contributing to:
- Removing plastic waste from more Gambian communities and the environment;
- Improving the collection, processing, and reuse of plastic waste;
- Teaching local communities knowledge and skills about plastic pollution;
- Providing at least 100 jobs and a steady income for the local population.

Met hart en ziel bouwen mijn team en ik aan het enige plastic recyclingbedrijf in Gambia. Wat ooit begon als een droom om mijn land schoner, gezonder en duurzamer te maken, is uitgegroeid tot een plek waar meer dan 100 mensen werk en hoop vinden.
De afgelopen jaren hebben we altijd moeten vertrouwen op derde partijen om ons te helpen met het inzamelen en verwerken van plastic afval, zoals het inhuren van dure vrachtwagens. We moeten nu zelf de controle nemen om onze missie voor een schoon, gezond en welvarend Gambia voort te zetten en te versnellen.
Om ervoor te zorgen dat we plastic afval kunnen blijven inzamelen en recyclen, én de Gambiaanse gemeenschap een perspectief op werk en een betere toekomst kunnen bieden, hebben we jouw hulp nodig. Het ingezamelde geld zal worden gebruikt om:
- Een vrachtwagen aan te schaffen om grote hoeveelheden plastic afval in te zamelen en het gerecyclede plastic rechtstreeks naar lokale kopers te vervoeren.
- Een plastic shredder aan te schaffen om het recyclingproces op gang te houden voor de grote hoeveelheden plastic afval waar de markt om vraagt.
- De infrastructuur van ons recyclingcentrum te verbeteren om de bedrijfsvoering in stand te houden. Ons nieuwe recyclingcentrum heeft belangrijke upgrades nodig zoals een dak, een betonnen vloer, een waterput en een noodgenerator.
Met jouw steun kunnen we niet alleen ons bedrijf draaiende houden, maar ook blijven bijdragen aan:
- Het verwijderen van plastic afval uit meer Gambiaanse gemeenschappen en het milieu;
- Het verbeteren van de inzameling, verwerking en het hergebruik van plastic afval;
- Het bijbrengen van kennis en vaardigheden over plastic vervuiling aan de lokale bevolking;
- Het bieden van ten minste 100 banen en een vast inkomen voor de lokale bevolking.
Elke euro helpt ons verder. Met jouw donatie help je ons afval om te zetten in kansen en geef je mensen hier in Gambia een toekomst.
