Meet Alicja, a 37-year-old beloved triplet sister, daughter, wife, radiant positive spirit and friend to many.
Diagnosed just a month ago, this aggressive disease has taken a toll on her physical health but not her indomitable spirit. Alicja has always been a beacon of empathy and kindness, extending her heart to those in need. Now, she needs our support more than ever to overcome this formidable challenge.
The Beginning of the Battle
On April 14, Alicja's life changed when a severe headache led to the discovery of a brain tumor. Despite the initial shock, Alicja faced the diagnosis with remarkable courage. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor, but the relief was short-lived. The biopsy revealed it to be grade IV glioma, a highly aggressive form of brain cancer. To spare her additional distress, the full severity of the diagnosis was initially kept from her.
Facing New Challenges
Following surgery, Alicja experienced significant physical challenges. She lost feeling in her left hand and, shortly after returning home, lost sensation in her right leg due to a stroke. Despite these setbacks, her resolve remains unwavering. Alicja is determined to fight for her life, one day at a time.
The Fight for Life Continues
Currently, Alicja is undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the University Clinical Center in Gdansk. Conventional treatments offer limited hope, but there is a glimmer of possibility in Nanotherapy and Immunotherapy. These innovative treatments, unfortunately not covered by public health services in Poland, could potentially eradicate the cancer cells while preserving healthy brain tissue. The cost of this treatment is staggering—$81,000 (PLN 210,000), with an additional $5,500 (PLN 14,000) per month for supplements, diet, and other essential therapies.
