On Friday, April 8th, at approximately 5:40 am, our loving mother, Alicia Venegas, woke to the smell of smoke and thankfully reacted quickly to get herself and her dog, Deebo, to safety.
As you might have already heard, a large fire on the 100th block of Noe Street destroyed two buildings and displaced 5 people. The fire completely destroyed Alicia's apartment.
More than 100 firefighters did their best to put out the 3-alarm fire in her home. We are truly thankful to God that she and her dog Deebo were not injured, as well as her next-door neighbor and their family. However, the fire destroyed all her possessions, including many cherished family memorabilia. The firefighters found only one item not destroyed, and that was one of her many crosses in her home. The photo of the cross is the cover photo. We believe this is a sign from God affirming Alicia's and our families' strong faith.
As a family, we will support her in every way we can, but we are also reaching out to our community to ask for help. Anything helps; even talking about it with others might help with long-term housing ideas, essentials, or help to raise additional funds. No donation is too small.
We thank you in advance for supporting our mother during this great need.
God Bless You,
The Nevarez Family
