Where we are:
Right now, Alicia is scared. She is sad, and she is feeling isolated and locked up inside because Alicia has Stage IV metastatic breast cancer.
After being assured by Fred Hutchinson all was well following a lumpectomy in 2023, her naturopath was more vigilant and continued to monitor her closely. When her bloodwork began to show concerning findings, he ordered a full-body MRI scan in November 2025 (pictured above). The metastatic lesions had already spread through the pelvis, the entire spine, and the base of the long bones of her legs and arms. The image above devastated us. We called the boys up into our room and all wrapped ourselves around each other and Alicia. She has now lost 45 pounds, her body and her spirit are worn down to the bones. We must act now.
There is no cure or remission from this disease. For some with her diagnosis, the lesions quickly spread through the organs and all hope is lost. For the lucky ones with the correct supportive interventions, a longer, relatively high quality of life is achievable. Alicia has a concerning spot in her liver confirmed on her last PET scan. It was not biopsied. We are treating and hoping for the best at her upcoming follow-up scan.
We are striving to keep our focus on the best possible outcomes for her and to provide her with unlimited treatment and support by any means necessary. Her boys need her. Her husband needs her. The world is a better place with Alicia Pond in it.
With ample love, the right treatment combinations, and some luck, she will stop the spread of the tumors from entering her vital organs, and she will be with us for a long time.
Who Alicia Is:
Alicia Pond is my wife of 21 years. She’s the heartful and attentive mother of our two wonderful sons. She is an acupuncturist and a small business owner. At her core, she is a dreamer and an idealistic healer who has devoted her life’s work to helping others.
What we have:
We have an incredibly loving and supportive family and community of friends.
A great company. We co-own and operate Sports Medicine Northwest, a multi-practitioner holistic sports medicine clinic in West Seattle. With a simple mission statement of becoming the clinic that we would wish to find for ourselves and our own loved ones, we have grown every year sice Alicia and I opened doors back in 2011. We are grateful for the opportunity to support the local community that supports us.
Health Insurance. We have it. You have it. You don’t need me to tell you how incomplete the coverage can be for something as big as this. So little of what she needs is covered by insurance. Her two rounds of systemic diagnostic imaging this year was beyond $10,000 out of pocket. All of the ongoing bloodwork, IV’s, specialist consultations, it is all critical, and is all out-of-pocket.
What she needs:
Alicia has had to step away from work for the past several months. She has been a lynchpin in the clinic’s operation, and with her absence, the challenge to generate the financial support she needs is getting further and further out of reach.
She desperately desires to check into an intensive cancer treatment center but the estimated costs for these centers are between $20,000-$70,000 for a 3-week-long intervention. These centers boast incredible results but they are also not covered by our premium insurance plan.
The best primary care doctor she has found offers comprehensive care of pharmaceutical and nutritional interventions. For someone like Alicia this is a life ring in more ways than one. Surviving on an ever changing cocktail of toxic pharmaceuticals alone is a poor quality of life. Doctors like this offer the sort of vital combination of holistic care that Alicia needs but they do not accept insurance. Between consultation fees, prescriptions, and supplements, we are told to expect expenses to exceed $20,000/ year.
It is a daunting financial outlook for a family that owns and operates a small business together. With the other mounting medical expenses, it amounts to hundreds of thousands of dollars of expenses spread over several years. With Alicia’s role in the company greatly diminished, it is a double-edged sword where we need far more and are generating less. As with all overwhelming challenges, I try to focus on aiming in the correct direction and taking the next step. Again. Again. And again.
Through the first few days of sharing this story, her community somehow raised over $60,000! If Alicia ever needed to see objective proof that she is indeed valued, she has it.
$75,000 is our current goal and would allow the urgent and immediate interventions she needs immediately. That is the next step and what we are asking help for.
This outpouring of generosity could not be better timed. Her heart is healing up, but her body is faltering. We have some emergency tests today. Her doctors need to confirm that her current bout of nausea and malaise (without any changes to her medications) are not signs of spread to her organ structures.
With the raised funds, I envision a bright pathway forward. I envision her returning from a multi-week intensive cancer care treatment center rejuvenated. Old patterns disrupted. Returning home with the structured daily protocol designed by her new holistic oncologist. Healthy, happy and free.
We are willing to do anything to care for Alicia. We are currently exploring the viability of selling our home.
It is not easy for me to admit that we need help. That I cannot fully provide all that my wife needs as she faces this challenge, but the world is a better place when Alicia Pond is in it. I will do anything for this person.
If you choose to help with a financial contribution large or small we sincerely thank you.
If you choose to help with a kind word or a silent prayer we sincerely thank you.

FAQ’s
How exactly will donations help Alicia?
Big picture.? Years of life. Quality of life. An opportunity to see her children through milestone years. Here’s how:
If we are able to raise $20,000, Alicia will be under the care of a cancer specialist physician who prescribes a comprehensive healing lifestyle, integrating specific foods and supplements at specific times for optimal results. She reinforces this plan with an array of repurposed prescription drugs. Alicia consulted recently with one of her patients with the same diagnosis. She is thriving. Her bloodwork is strong, she is back to health and is no longer taking the more toxic medications typically prescribed in oncology care. We want this for Alicia.
If we somehow raise $50,000, we will check Alicia into a 3 week intensive cancer care and treatment center. She longs to be restored to the person she once was and has always been. Anxiety and depression compound this challenge. We would love to disrupt those patterns with this intervention and reinvigorate Alicia for the battle ahead.
