Help Alicia Recover from 15 Foot Fall

Hi there - I'm helping to raise funds for my sister-in-law Alicia who fell off of a 15-foot drop near the Lānaʻi Lookout and as a result broke a multitude of bones in both arms, both legs and her back. She is currently "non weight-bearing" which means that she cannot put weight on any arms or legs to get around as she recovers.

The road to recovery is a long and expensive one. Alicia has undergone 3 surgeries so far with more in the future. The first surgery was an emergency surgery to repair her back as there was a risk that she would be paralyzed. The other surgeries were for her hands and feet which required radial plates and screws as so many bones were broken, including her left heel that broke into 17 pieces and right heel that broke into 10 pieces. She is currently housed in a nursing home for rehabilitation and is without her family and totally dependent on her community of support. When she transfers home, she will need her home to be handicapped accessible by adding ramps, bars around the toilet and in the tub, installing a shower bench, purchasing a wheelchair, walker, a proper hospital bed and more.

Many of these costs are beyond what insurance would cover. She is blessed to work for a school that will continue her insurance coverage for an additional six-weeks but she will not receive any income during her recovery. She strived to continue to teach through her injuries, as she is much-loved by her students, but needs to focus on her rehabilitation now before she can return to work. There's a major fear that she will not be able to cover all the major costs of her medical care and basic expenses such as rent and groceries due to months of lost income and the physical demand for healing work.

We truly appreciate any donations to help Alicia recover from this dire situation! She is young and in her 30's and we want her to be able to embrace a fulfilling life ahead, but she needs our help to do so.
