Hi. My name is Inez Litchmore and I'm from Jamaica but presently living in Florida. I'm here trying to raise funds for my "unofficial adopted daughter", Alicia Peddlar who was affected by Hurricane Melissa.

Alicia lives in Catherine Hall, Jamaica, which was recently impacted by Hurricane Melissa. She lost practically everything as the house was inundated with floodwaters up to the roof, and mud covered the first floor of the rental she lived in.

When I called and asked how she was doing, she replied, "I'm ok." Later, when I realized she lost everything, I asked, "Why did you tell me you're ok?" and her reply was, "Because I thought I was going to drown and I didn't, so that's why I replied like that."

However, Alicia is not ok. She's lost everything; all her furniture including her bed, all her appliances including her stove, her pots for cooking, all her clothing, underwear, etc., and is basically starting over, as are others. When she sent me the video of herself trying to salvage stuff from the mud, I was moved to tears. She said she washed them, but the majority are stained and damaged beyond repair, and all furniture and appliances had to be thrown away.

Alicia is also asthmatic, so the house will need to be sanitized and repainted before she can go back inside to prevent/minimize an attack.

Anything received, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated. I know a lot of people might ask, why donate to her and not others, and my reply is that I'm not asking for others not to receive, I'm just asking for help for someone who was so grateful for life, that they said they were alright knowing they lost practically everything in the midst of it all.

Thank you for any help given, it will be highly appreciated. Any money received in the short term will go towards IMMEDIATELY getting her a bed, sheets, a stove, pots to cook in, clothing and shoes for work, sanitary and medical items including asthma pumps, and SANITIZING and repainting her section; and in the long term to replace her refrigerator and other furniture and appliances and other items she lost. I've included photos of her cleaning out the mud, and of her items thrown away outside the home. Thank you.
