Help Alicia During Chemotherapy Treatment
Donation protected
Alicia is a full-time working mom who has stage 4 colon cancer. She is taking care of her family and driving to Boston for weekly chemotherapy sessions. Her busy schedule, along with her cancer treatments is taking a toll on her physically, emotionally, and financially. She is experiencing constant back pain and struggles nightly to sleep. Being able to relieve some of the financial pressure and stress of her daily life is the motivation behind this fundraiser.
Alicia is the most amazing mother, daughter, sister, friend and teacher. She puts everyone above herself. She helps motivate and educate others while on this difficult cancer journey. She consistently encourages people to appreciate their health and move their bodies every day. She approaches each day with a level of kindness and optimism that is rare.
When Alicia was first diagnosed, the tumors were so large they placed a colostomy bag and started her on chemo to shrink the tumors to an operable size. After 12 rounds of chemotherapy, she then went in for surgery. They removed sections of her small and large intestines, liver, and also performed a hysterectomy. After regular scans for several months, new cancer areas were detected and she started back on weekly chemotherapy treatments.
She has managed to stay positive and focus on the important things in life- spending time with family, getting out in nature, and laughing as much as she can. She talks openly about her diagnosis and encourages others to schedule their colonoscopy and focus on their health.
Alicia has spent her life helping others by teaching. She is a special education teacher for children as well as adults. Alicia works hard to determine the best way a person can learn. Her patience and caring approach has positively impacted those in her classrooms. Alicia has also spent many years teaching in the gym. She has taught total body and weight training classes, Pilates, and spin classes. Her commitment to health makes this diagnosis seem even more unfair.
Alicia has helped so many people in her life and now it is time for us to help her.
She deserves the chance to heal from her treatments and not worry so much about money and the financial burden this cancer diagnosis is causing. The funds raised will be used for medical bills and living expenses. Her deductible is thousands of dollars and restarts every year. She has used all of her paid leave and has had to utilize all of her savings for medical bills and basic living expenses.
Please help Alicia with any donation amount you can give- no donation is too small.
