Help Alicia and Grayson Rebuild After Fire
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alicia. I'm a single mother to an awesome special needs son, Grayson, and a sweet little fur baby.
On May 2nd, disaster struck our home from some bad storms that came through our town in Madison, AL. Grayson was home alone while I was working, and lightning struck our house. Grayson did not hear the lightning strike but noticed the Wi-Fi had gone out and the yard was actively filling with smoke. He immediately called 911 as shingles were falling off the house in flames. Our neighbor had rushed over because he heard the strike and saw the house on fire. He called my work to notify me, and I left instantly. The fear I had building in me was unnerving, to say the least.
The fire department came out and was able to stop the fire, but between the fire and water damage, my son and I are currently displaced and our house is uninhabitable. I'm 52, employed, and now homeless without my son. Couch hopping at my age seriously takes a toll on you. My son, being autistic, has a very hard time with change and adapting. Being without mom has been a struggle for him.
My goal with this GoFundMe is to be able to find us a place to stay until my house can be fixed. It seems like they are finding more damage every day, so I'm not sure when we will be able to return to our home. Truly, anything helps. We are beyond grateful for any support we receive during this hardship we are facing. Thank you so much!
