Supporting Alicia & AJ During the Fight of Their Lives

This is not an easy thing to write, and it’s not something Alicia ever imagined needing.

AJ has been in the ICU for over a month, fighting for his life. He has endured multiple surgeries, severe lung injury, ongoing infections, and is currently dependent on life-support while doctors do everything possible to stabilize him and determine the next steps forward. His recovery, will be long, uncertain, and nothing like the life they knew before.

Alicia has not left his side. She has lived at the hospital—sleeping little, eating less, advocating for AJ while trying to process the reality of what is happening. At the same time, life outside the ICU has not stopped. Bills continue. Responsibilities continue. And the weight of it all is heavy.

This is not a meal-train situation. This is not a short-term crisis.

This is months of survival—financially, emotionally, and mentally.

Alicia and AJ are independent, hardworking people. Asking for help goes against everything they’re used to. But this moment is bigger than pride. Right now, support means stability—keeping a roof overhead, utilities on, animals cared for, and allowing Alicia to focus on being present for AJ without the constant fear of financial collapse.
