Hi, I'm Alice.
My last day at my current job is mid-April because I am being laid off. My lease on my current apartment ends at the end of May 2025. The current job market is atrocious with tech peers seeing at least 6 months of unemployment before getting placed. This is a terrible combo.
With your help and the last of my dollars, I can skip homelessness and start over in a new city. Savings? What's savings? I am *just* now starting to recover from the mess my life has been because of undiagnosed medical issues. I'm doing better now but I am still digging out.
Big costs:
- Moving my stuff. Update: moving costs are mostly storage costs. I'm taking my essentials with me to PA, but leaving the rest in storage in MA until I can return for them.
- Travel. Update: My friends are coming to get me! Whew!
Other things I need help with and will get you more details soon:
- Bills. I'll be unemployed but I'll still have bills due.
- Pets. Update: Both birds have appointments to be surrendered. I'm heart broken but I know they'll find a new home.
- Medicine. Stocking up on my prescription meds before I move.
- Legal. Update: So far I don't think I have to do anything. Whew.
I am confident that with some study I can get some new tech skills to increase my chances at getting a new job. It's not an if, it's a when. I just need your help getting through until then.
