Help Alice Keep Her Children

HI I'm Poppy and I am fundraising for my sister Alice.

Her ex partner and abuser is pursuing her for abduction of her 5 year old son. He is using the Hague Convention as an abusive tactic to further destroy her life and a right to a family life.

The Hague Convention is a law that is in place to decide whether a child has been abducted from their habitual residence. It doesn't take into account any other aspects such as the safeguarding of women and children in abusive relationships and so is often used by men to abuse the system to carry on further abuse when women and children are ordered to return.

Alice suffered a mental breakdown in 2020 in which she was hospitalised due to the revelation of an affair for 4 years with the child's godmother. She has tried to rebuild her life in Australia for 2 years after the breakdown but without success or support as her family are in the UK. She was given permission to return to the UK.

Alice has been let down at every opportunity with the justice system in this country.

We have contacted various legal aid routes which we have now been told that she doesn't qualify for as she has locked in equity within the property jointly owned with her ex partner in Australia. However she is locked out of the equity due to ongoing financial abuse, he has sold her car, cut off her phone, changed passwords for monetary access and has stopped paying any child support. Not paying child support is another form of abuse - the abuser hopes alienate the the other parent, by ensuring financial difficulties make the abused parent look inadequate and incapable of looking after the children.

Even though this has been done to her, he is getting FREE legal aid from you, the UK taxpayer and Alice is entitled to nothing. As a classic abusive tactic, the former partner is now claiming to be the victim of said abuse, adding further criticism to the actual victim and a complete invalidation to what happened to Alice in the start.

In the event that the child is returned this will be beyond anything we could imagine as Alice will be stuck with the choice of: take one child back to an abusive situation and leave the other child with family here in the UK , thus denying the boys a right to family life and not knowing when she would see the other. Or, staying with the child in the UK while being forced to let the 5 year old back to an abusive situation ,again denying the boys to a right to family life in order to preserve her own deteriorating mental health and ensure her son is not further exposed to this intolerable situation.

We are facing the biggest fight of our lives and we just don't have the right amount of funds to pursue any legal council as it's beyond any cost we could have imagined.

Please help Alice keep her family and fight with her in the name of true justice.
