Our Daughter in-law Alice Lindsay, 31 year old mother of four, James(7), Twins Thalia & Ember(5) and Madilynn(1) was diagnosed with Invasive Endocervical Adenocarcinoma stage 2b(Cervical Cancer) on April 21st 2021.

In March of 2019, she had a perfect pap test and was told she could wait 3 years before having another, but in Dec 2020 she noticed some unsettling changes that worsened into Jan 2021. So she booked a Pap test early. On March 2nd the results were not good and after more tests and a biopsy she was diagnosed with Cancer. The scariest part is this Cancer usually take 15 to 20 years to reach the point Alice is at after 2. This incredibly aggressive cancer has had her treatment fast-tracked. And Covid-19 has prevented family from visiting.

The tumor is positioned such that Surgery is not an option so she is going to require 5 weeks of External radiation and Chemotherapy drugs and then 3 to 5 weeks of Internal Radiation treatments and God willing that will be enough. They have been advised that the initial Chemo and external radiation may be need to be extended as this type of cancer is resistant to these treatments. A lot, not all, of the treatment costs are covered and the Cancer Society is assisting with arranging transportation as neither Alice nor her husband David drive. The Cancer center is 1.5 hours each way on public transportation, and the cost to them of the medication is unclear as the treatments may take longer than anticipated. The biggest loss will be in David’s wages as he will have to go on Medical Employment Insurance, which is 15 weeks only, to help with the children as the treatments take their toll on Alice.
