Just as it did to many others, Covid ran its course through our house. Of course it hit each of us a little differently, but the one who took the hardest hit was our mom, Alia. Alia had a pre-existing lung disease, so Covid put her in the hospital. She’s been there for about two months working on recovering and coming home. She was so close to coming home before she took a turn and found herself in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). By the time we made it to the ICU to visit her, she was already intubated, sedated and relying 100% on a ventilator to breathe. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions for our family as she recovers. Some days are good, some days we hit a speed bump.
We are confident that mom will recover and hope to see her awake, laughing and back at home soon. One thing we don’t want her to worry about is the huge medical bill she will receive for this extended stay at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Our family is not one to ask for help, and she might be annoyed that we did, but we don’t want her to stress about medical bills when she should focus on recovering. Thank you in advance for helping out! We truly appreciate it.
