After a major surgery in 2023 and a long rebuild, I finally took a big leap last year and I moved into my own place for the first time in years. It's a fresh start I'm really proud of, and I'd love the support of my people as I find my footing.
I was lucky enough to get my Hyundai from a friend last year for super cheap, but it has no AC or heat, and the driver's window is stuck partially open. Last summer I thugged it out, but I live in a car-centric city, and with new medications affecting my ability to withstand heat and this year’s heavy humidity, I would love to not do that again. I'm raising funds to fix the AC and the window so I can get to work events and appointments safely.
This year I'm finally addressing some of the chronic health issues I've carried for several years. The problems that led to my hysterectomy in 2023 are interconnected with these foundational issues! I've already started working with a nutritionist and a care team on some deeply personal challenges that have affected my body and daily life since 2018, and I'm now exploring both outpatient and inpatient treatment options for care.
These issues have been front and center in my daily life. There are days when my body and mind make even basic functioning feel out of reach. I've been navigating this for a long time, and the compounding effect of years without proper treatment makes things even more urgent. I have a lot of internal tools to support me through my challenges, but I am at the point now where getting professional help isn't optional for me anymore, it’s a necessity.
Focusing on my health these past few months has meant falling behind on insurance and debt payments. Specialist appointments are expensive! Part of this fundraiser is simply buying myself a little breathing room while I get the support I need.
My goal is $7,000. With full funding, I can get through the next three months without the financial stress that makes healing so much harder. If you've supported me before, thank you so much! Part of why I'm reaching out this way is that my support system looks different than most. I live alone, I'm not close with my biological family, and my people are spread out across the country. My community has always shown up for me in ways my circumstances couldn't, and I'm grateful to even be able to ask for support in this way!
