Help Ali Start Living Again

Donation protected

Hello! I'm Kerry and I'm raising funds for my dear friend Alisha. Our friendship began when we were 12 years old. Over the years I've watched my friend do amazing things to help friends, family, and humanity. From keeping healthy food bags in her car to hand out to those in need, to volunteering to build homes with Habitat For Humanity, if there was a way to help others that Alisha could do, she did. All the while, she was living with an undiagnosed medical condition. Alisha pushed through for as long as she could. Sadly the undiagnosed, untreated condition she lives with, along with other diagnosed conditions, stumps Doctors, and has taken a toll on her health and overall well-being. Now she needs our help. Below is Alisha's own words. Thank you for taking the time to read
and donate what you are able to. It means so much to her, me, and all whose lives have been touched by this amazing soul.  With your help, Alisha will be able to get a motorized scooter
to help her get around safer & easier.

Help get living again.

I had been suffering from an unknown medical condition for over 20 years. I had always been able to fight it, disguise it, to push through it until the summer of 2018. That is when my world began to slow down for good. No amount of mind over matter could get me through. One year later I ended up on medical leave from work pending brain surgery. I have Chiari Malformation. The surgery was successful and I feel a lot better but I am still on disability. I still struggle a great deal, and no one knows why. I’m told I might have permanent nerve damage but a general shoulder shrug is all I receive from neurologists. My driving privilege has been revoked due to my condition, causing occasional seizures, it totally sucks, I understand. But what they don’t seem to understand is walking around town in the Las Vegas sun, or standing around waiting for the bus, is just as dangerous. I am unable to run and crossing the street takes forever! Since I don’t have a proper diagnosis my physical therapy is limited and insurance assistance with a mobility device non existent. If I had an electric scooter at least I could start to feel some what normal again, gain my independence without having to suffer the pain and torture of being on foot constantly. I chose a foldable device because I am able to walk, so on my good days I will do so, but a good day for me, could change in a matter of 15 minutes. I’d like to have a device I can keep with me on the ready in case I need it. I’ve tried walking good distances with just my cane for support but after about 15-20 minutes on my feet I am in tears and it takes 24-48 hours to recover from one outing. I have never been good at asking for help because I’ve always tried to hide my illness. Now there is no hiding and I could really use some help.

With your help I would be able to go to the park again, go to the mountains with my friends, maybe even see a concert again. I would love to get back to community outreach again, and would have no trouble taking public transit to get where I needed to go if I had this device. If you are able to help I would really appreciate anything you may be able to give. Thank you so much!
