Hi everyone,

We're raising funds for our dear friend Ali Slayie, an asylum seeker, who was detained by ICE Thursday night, October 15, 2026, on the plane bridge after he safely and legally tried to board his flight back home from Seattle to San Francisco.

Ali has worked incredibly hard to build a life and future for himself. He currently works as a Strategy Analyst at Deloitte and was returning home from a work conference in Seattle when everything changed.

While boarding his flight, ICE agents stopped him in the jet bridge and informed him that his F-1 student visa had expired. Ali explained that he had an ongoing asylum application and was already navigating the immigration process, but he was still immediately taken into custody.

He was simply trying to get home.

What should have been an ordinary flight turned into an unimaginable situation. Someone who has spent so much of his life uplifting others is now facing uncertainty, separated from the people who love him.

For those who know Ali, you know how much light he brings into every room he enters. He's someone who makes everyone feel welcomed, valued, and heard. He has an incredible ability to connect with people, turn strangers into friends, and bring joy to those around him. He's always been passionate about equality, standing up for others, and treating people with kindness and compassion. To so many of us, Ali isn't just a friend. He's family.

Right now, our priority is securing an experienced immigration attorney who can advocate for Ali, review his case, and help pursue his release.

All donations will go toward legal representation, attorney fees, necessary filings, and other immigration-related expenses. If Ali is found eligible for bond, funds may also help cover the cost of his release. We will provide updates as we learn more about his case and the expenses involved.

Ali has always been someone who shows up for others. Now, we're asking you to show up for him.
