Hi everyone, my name is Ali, and I am reaching out in one of the most difficult moments of my life. Last night, my home in Cartersville was completely flooded—water rose past my knees inside and up to my waist outside. I lost everything.
This home has been mine for four years, and in just one night, it was destroyed. My bed, furniture, washer and dryer, vanity, TV stand, all my food, and even the supplies I use for my at-home lash business are gone. My car, which I was so close to paying off by the end of this year, is totaled. We had to be rescued by boat out of our windows, along with my two cats and my dog. I don’t know if I’ll even be able to move back in, or when that would be possible.
I am a full-time student at Kennesaw State University, set to graduate this May with my Bachelor’s in Psychology. I just got accepted into graduate school to become a school counselor, and I’m supposed to start this June. On top of my studies, I work as a server at Texas Roadhouse and intern twice a week at a recovery center. I have been balancing so much, trying to build a future, and now everything I’ve worked for has been shattered in an instant.
Right now, I have nowhere to stay and will likely need to stay in a hotel for the time being. I am asking for help to get back on my feet—to replace basic necessities, secure housing, and begin to recover from this devastating loss.
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to me as I navigate this crisis. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this would also help tremendously. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support.
With love and gratitude,
Ali Broussard
