RallyforAli: Help Ali fund cancer treatment

Ali Wheatland is battling ‘incurable’ Stage 4 metastatic Cervical Cancer. Heartbreakingly, there are no more treatment options available to Ali via the NHS. So we are urgently seeking funds for private treatments and therapies to give Ali the gift of time and the chance to live a full, happy and colourful life - that no one could deserve more ❤️

We are exploring all options here in the UK and abroad, however these potential new, innovative treatments are extremely expensive costing hundreds of thousands of pounds (hence the initial target being £100,000). Our love for Ali is priceless and we want to know that we have done everything possible to raise the necessary funds to unlock these potentially life saving opportunities for Ali.

Ali’s incredible energy, personality and love of life is truly one in a billion. She lights up every room she’s in and truly makes the world a better place. She lives for her family, friends, her cat JJ, adventures, traveling, road trips, festivals, gigs, paddleboarding, food, humour, silliness, laughter, and kindness. She has huge hopes, dreams and aspirations and a heart of absolute gold.

Ali plans to use the money raised to pay for these private treatments and all the costs associated with them.
Ali is a born adventurer and has been making her way around the world her entire life. In light of Ali’s love for culture and travel - some money may also be used to allow Ali to complete her “living list” which is full of adventures.

Please help us to save our Ali. She has spent her entire career giving hope back to others and she now needs the same ❤️

Ali’s story

Ali’s world was turned upside down in March 2018 when she was first diagnosed with cervical cancer. She fought against the disease everyday for almost a year and endured gruelling treatments that were painful, exhausting and horribly invasive. After rounds of daily radiotherapy, weekly chemotherapy and traumatic brachytherapy - Ali was given the “all clear” in January 2019.

Although she was now clear from Cancer, Ali never felt “free” of the disease as her life never went back to “normal”. Ali had to deal with the aftermath of cancer - going through instant menopause aged 30 without having the option to have children of her own, living in fear or recurrence from scan to scan, constant re traumatisation, and everything else that goes with trying to rebuild a life after cancer.

Ali’s follow up scans revealed that the cancer had stayed away - until January 2022 when Ali’s world was turned upside down once more.

On the 24th of January 2022, Ali received the devastating news that the cancer was back, and that this time it was not curable. Aged just 34 and with a whole lifetimes worth of dreams and ambitions Ali was told she had terminal cancer and that her time on this earth would be limited. The prognosis was bleak and treatment options sparse.

Since then she has been to hell and back, all whilst trying to live a full and happy life, keeping positive and working full time to help others. She endured an incredible 22 cycles of horrific chemotherapy which left her with life changing side effects, most of which she has never shared - in order to protect those she loves most.

Despite the exhaustion of chemotherapy, Ali has truly fought for her life every single day. She has researched the cancer, alternative therapies and every option of treatment available through the NHS and was finally given a lifeline of having curative surgery this summer. However, just before the surgery was due to go ahead she was told there was further evidence of cancer and the surgery would not be possible - cruelly shattering her hopes once again.

She has been through the most vicious rollercoaster of a ride whilst always advocating for herself, pushing for options and believing she can beat this.
Despite the constant set-backs and adversity from professionals, Ali has found a way to advocate for her life continuously.

In June 2023 Ali was told that the chemotherapy she had been on for over a year was no longer working and that the cancer had started to grow again.
There were no further lines of treatment or options for Ali on the NHS at this point.

Ali persevered for treatment options and was accepted onto a clinical trial for immunotherapy at The Royal Marsden in July 2023. This meant weekly 8 hour car journeys from Torquay to London for potentially life saving treatment and provided more hope for a future.

Initial progress was promising and the tumours in her lymph nodes began to shrink. However, 3 weeks ago Ali again had devastating news and was told the treatment was no longer having an effect - with her existing tumours showing growth and a new tumour in her spine. The trial and medication would be ending.
This brings us to today.

Ali has been in hospital for a week. A tumour is blocking her urethra and she is now faced with having to have a permanent catheter. None of us thought things would deteriorate so fast. We need to ACT NOW!

Things are currently deteriorating quickly and we desperately need your support now! Ali has always believed she will beat this disease and so have we. She has faced even the cruelest storms with a smile and a tenacious attitude to overcome Cancer.

Your contribution can unlock life-saving treatments and grant Ali the chance to pursue her dreams, free her from cancer and allow her to live a long, full and beautiful life. A life that will be free from the disease which has already taken so much from her.

There are options available for our Ali, but they are unavailable through the NHS. This is our last shot to secure private treatments - Ali's vibrant spirit, love for life, and dreams deserve to thrive.

Speed is of the essence as these tumours are sadly very aggressive and grow quickly. Please help us to get Ali the best available treatment so that she can have a chance to live her life to the fullest.

If you are lucky enough to know Ali, we can almost guarantee you know how she would go out of her way to help anyone.
Now is the time to “Rally for Ali” and return this attitude to her, to help her get the best possible care she so deserves.

Over the last five years, Cancer has taken so much from Ali - the choice to have children, the side effects of early menopause, anxiety and fear of the unknown. But even during the lowest of lows and excruciating treatment - cancer hasnt been able to take Ali’s immeasurable kindness to everyone she encounters. It hasn’t taken the little laugh she makes when she watches funny cat videos. It hasn’t taken her love for Japanese Food and her unquenchable need to travel the world. It hasn’t taken her humour and ridiculously quick wit. It hasn’t taken her silliness, spontaneity and spirit of adventure. It hasn’t taken her infectious love for life. And it won’t.

Words from our Ali
“I never thought I would ever have to do this. I’m so embarrassed. Those that know me know I don’t like to ask for anything, but right now I’m having to swallow my pride as I’m so desperate to live.

I’ve continued to work and support myself throughout all of this without asking for a penny. I’ve supported others, and tried to save here and there for some special holidays, but now I need you.

Anything you can give that could help save my life I would be so grateful for. I don’t know what the next few months are going to bring but I want to know that I’ve explored every option and if my time is close to being up, I want to live literally like there is no tomorrow!

For those who don’t know my story I was first diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2018 aged 30. At the time it turned my world upside down, but with the support of a few special people I got through it.

In January 2022 I was told the cancer was back, stage 4, and now the fight wasn’t one to be won, but just buying more time.
I never accepted that this was terminal, and over the last 23 months I have fought and fought and done all I can to try and beat it.

Sadly it’s got to the point now where I have been told that there isn’t really any more that can be done. I can live in hope for another clinical trial, however I have been told to do all the things I want to do before it’s too late. I want to keep fighting but to do so would mean privately paying for clinics abroad or private alternative therapies here in the UK.

With that being said, that is why my amazing friends have set this up for me. Treatment abroad is extremely expensive - we are talking hundreds of thousands - and any money raised will be put towards this.

I am exploring all options, but still unsure whether there is anything that will cure me. If there aren’t any viable options for me and my days are numbered, I would hope you would be happy with me using the money to live my last few months to the absolute fullest and make the best memories with those who have given their all to support me through this.

I am hopeful that there is a cure out there for me and that any money raised will allow me to grab it with both hands…
I want to live!”

Ali ✌
