Hello everyone, my name is Kateryna , I’m 24 years old, and my husband’s name is Alireza Pourjam, he’s 25. We are a young family, just starting to build our life together.

In 2022, we moved to Canada, hoping for a better future. Everything was going well, and for two years, we lived a quiet and peaceful life. But a few months ago, everything changed.

My husband suddenly fell very ill. The pain was so severe that he had to spend 12 hours in the hospital waiting to be seen. At that moment, we had no idea what was coming.

After tests, the doctors informed us that he had cancer. The situation was so urgent that they performed surgery immediately. We hoped this would be the end of it. But after the surgery, we found out that the cancer was still active and continued to grow. It has now spread, with around ten metastases.

Right now, my husband is undergoing intensive chemotherapy every day. Initially, we were told it was Stage 1 cancer, but that was just to soften the blow before we visited the cancer center. At the center, we learned the truth: Alireza has Stage 3B seminoma. It’s a severe condition, and he has a tough road ahead of him. The doctors give us hope, but the treatment will be challenging.

This fundraiser is incredibly important for our family. I’ve never asked for help before, and it’s incredibly hard and humbling to do so now. But I realize that I can’t handle this alone. Any support you can provide, no matter how small, is a chance to save my husband’s life and keep our family together. I am deeply grateful to everyone who chooses to help, and I truly hope this will be the first and last time I’ll ever need to ask for such help.

Unfortunately, the province does not cover the cost of medication, and the doctors also said that my husband will need physiotherapy. In addition, he was prescribed to stay at home for 8 months, which left him without a job. All the expenses now fall on me, and unfortunately, my parents are unable to provide significant help.
