Ali is our 9-year-old boxer and a huge part of our family. He’s the kind of dog who loves car rides, being close to us at all times, and somehow always finds a way to make us laugh. He is my best friend, my big boy, and a huge part of our hearts.
Ali was recently diagnosed with malignant insulinoma, a cancerous condition that causes dangerously low blood sugar levels. His first major sign was a sudden grand mal seizure, and his blood glucose dropped to a critically low level of 33. Since then, we’ve started managing his condition with daily medication (prednisone), anti-seizure medication (keppra), and a strict feeding schedule of six small meals a day to help keep his blood sugar stable. While this has helped, insulinoma is a progressive condition, and these measures are not a long-term solution on their own.
The next critical step is advanced imaging, such as an abdominal ultrasound or CT scan, to determine the extent of the tumor and whether it has spread. This will help us decide if surgery is a safe and effective option. If Ali is a good candidate, surgery to remove the tumor offers the best chance to stabilize his blood sugar, reduce the risk of future seizures, and give him more quality time with us. The funds raised will go toward diagnostic imaging (ultrasound/CT), surgical consultation and possible tumor removal, ongoing medications and specialized care.
Ali is still very much himself—alert, loving, and enjoying his daily life. We’re not ready to lose him, and we want to give him every chance at more good days, more moments, and more time doing what he loves. We’re doing everything we can to give him the best chance at more healthy, stable time, and we truly appreciate any support.
