Greetings everyone. My name is Khelva Ruiz-Rodriguez and with a heavy heart and deep sadness I’ve opened this fundraising account after my dear nephew Algenis had a terrific vehicle accident that happened on the first week of May where he almost lost his life. His condition is so severe that he has been put on a ventilator on and off. He is conscious, but deeply sedated to bare the pain of his entire body’s burns. His entire body is covered in gauze, because of his 4 degree burns. He fractured both of his arms and legs and is having severe problems with his right leg. He will be receiving several surgeries starting with the first one that will take place in the next days in order for his legs to be saved. He will have to receive long-term therapy to recover from all of his injuries and surgeries. I’d appreciate if you can contribute whatever you can afford to this cause and help my nephew pay for his medical bills, therapies and treatment that will be extensive. A little but about Algenis for those that don’t know him personally. Algenis is a 25 years old healthy, energetic and strong young man. Algenis was raised by my mother, myself, my brother and his mother since he has never met who his father is. My sister had him when she was only fifth-teen years old. At a very young age he started playing sports such as baseball and football. He has also been doing workout routines and have been living a very healthy life. He graduated High School and enrolled in college to become a Physical Therapist, but he paused his career and focused on just working. He currently works as a Special Education Paraprofessional and he loves and enjoys his job working with autistic and special education children. He followed my mother’s and my steps working in the education field. Algenis is engaged to his girlfriend Carina and they have been together for almost 6 years now. They both had a social media page where they shared workout routines and plans as a couple and they helped other young men and women to be motivated to maintain a healthy lifestyle. My sister Paula suffers from a mental disability and she is not aware of Algenis who is her son’s situation. We have kept her unaware of what happened since the accident, because we’re protecting her from having another episode of mental health crisis.
