My name is Alexis Boaz--a 34 year-old single mother of two beautiful daughters who is a responsible, hard-working, prideful and law abiding citizen.
My life has not been easy, but with grit and sheer determination, since the age of 14, I have always been able to provide for myself and family. However, today, I am in the fight of my life.
The phrase, “bad things sometimes happen to good people” has never rung truer and has great personal relevance now more than ever. For a little more than 7 years, I’ve worked for the nation’s leading nonprofit behavioral health organization that operates programs and services in 13 U.S. states for children and adults with developmental disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, and mental illnesses.
Throughout the course of my employment, I’ve maintained a stellar record and now I find myself being scapegoated for misconduct I did not commit. The accusations being made against me are serious enough to require qualified legal counsel.
You see, I’m battling against a bureaucratic organizational machine that is motivated to quickly and aggressively pursue this case without proper investigation. In crisis prevention mode, their only interest is to protect the more than $467 million in annual revenue it brings in, of which 95% derives from government programs including Medicaid.
My employer is desperate to make an example out of someone—anyone—to mitigate further damage to their reputation. So, I stand wrongfully accused. I’ve been told a sign of strength is to know when to ask for help, and I need it more than ever to raise funds to retain a qualified attorney who will mount a legal defense on my behalf.
As a citizen of this country, we’re all promised access to equal protection and justice under the law; but without your support, I’m vulnerable to becoming another statistic of a judicial system that has been proven over-and-over again to be unequal and favors those of greater means.
I am not dispensable--my life matters. It matters to me, my daughters, extended family and friends. So, I am appealing to the better angels among us, and humbly and respectfully solicit your financial support in assisting me raise money for my legal defense. My life hangs in the balance.
Respectfully,
Alexis Boaz
