I recently left a domestic violence situation about a month ago, determined to create a safer and better life for myself and my son. Since then, I have been doing everything I can to get back on my feet—searching for a job, trying to secure a vehicle and my license, and navigating the challenges of starting over with very little support. Right now, I am also going to court to protect my son and ensure his safety, which has added a lot of stress and uncertainty to our lives.

While I am grateful to have food stamps, finding a job and reliable childcare has been incredibly difficult. I have reached out to do odd jobs and help others in my community, but so far, I haven’t had any luck. Now, I am facing a critical deadline: I have just 6 days to come up with rent so we don’t lose our home and have to go to a shelter. I am doing everything I can, but I am running out of options and time.
