Help Alexis Continue Speech Therapy with an IPad
Spende geschützt

Hello:)
As most of you know Alexis sustained a severe traumatic brain injury October 22, 2018 in a freak ATV accident. She underwent a life saving craniotomy surgery and has had to relearn many skills.
Alexis, with her feisty determined strong-willed spirit, has made great gains, impressing doctors, therapists, family and friends. She is so lucky to have received intense in-patient/resident therapy at two of the best rehab facilities in Iowa, relearning to walk, swallow and talk. They really do try to create an atmosphere of home rather than hospital. It is so cool these places allow pets to visit. The day I was there a pot bellied pig was visiting. When Alexis reached down to pet the enormous thing it grunted and tried to bite her finger for a tasty snack! It was apparent Alexis was no amateur farm girl. Her reflexes were quick!
On January 6, as Grandma Vicki wrote on Alexis's CaringBridge site, “Ready or not insurance says she is going home" and move home she did. The move home came with mixed emotions; happy and a little scared. Alexis knew she was recieving great care, and intense therapy for 5 hours a day. Gus says she is settling in back on the ranch and making some great weight gains. (sorry Lex, ya know I won't give the details cuz girlfriends don't discuss weight) Peeps should just know she's packing on some much needed pounds. Woo-hoo-hoo!
In a rural community we are blessed to have a small county hospital staffed with experts passionate in their field. Seriously, in a town our size we are so lucky! Alexis will continue with physical, occupational and speech therapy twice a week at our awesome small town hospital. During her days at home, with no scheduled therapy, it would be a huge benefit if she could get her hands on an Apple Ipad. That friends, is why I'm fundraising. The Ipad would give her access to many of the same apps used by her speech therapist, and allow her to work with caregivers at home. Perseverance, and repetition are crucial to Alexis's healing. Many have asked what they can do to help, especially those that live over the hill, around the bend and through the woods opposite SE Iowa.
I say Thank-You in advance for helping equip Alexis with the tools for success! She is so loved!
