UPDATE: Alexis passed away on July 19th from his injuries. His body just couldn't handle the stress anymore, and he is now at peace looking over all of us.
While we mourn him, his parents now have a HUGE hospital bill as well as funeral expenses. Therefore, all the money raised on this page will go directly to these expenses.
Thank you for your help and for your prayers. We appreciate it so much.

My 19-year-old nephew and godson, Alexis, who lives in Michoacan, Mexico, was attacked on the evening of July 5th by a group of drunk men. Alexis was on his motorcycle, and was run down and hit by one of the men in his car. He was thrown from his bike into a bus that was parked on the street. Even once Alexis was lying in the street and unconscious from the impact, this man proceeded to continue to beat him with his fists. Luckily, there were other witnesses who were able to step in at this point. One hero saved Alexis's life by giving him CPR until an ambulance arrived.
Alexis has a broken pelvis, massive head injuries, and numerous other traumas; he has been placed in a medically induced coma due to the swelling in his brain. We do not know when or how much he will recover when he regains consciousness. There is currently no timeline.
Unfortunately, in order for Alexis to get his brain injuries treated, the ambulance had to take him to a private hospital that has the equipment to give him an MRI to find the bleeding in his brain and treat it. We are very grateful that they were able to find a hospital that could give him this treatment. However, a private hospital in Mexico means that his family has to pay out of pocket every single day in order to keep him there and continuing to be treated. That costs $500 per day minimum.
Things do not work the same in Mexico as they do in the US. The young man who attacked him is known as the son of a diplomat/ politician in the town. The police have already begun to erase the evidence, including refusing to take a police report. There have also been threats made to witnesses, and the attacker may have already fled to the US. At this point, the family is on their own, at the very least, financially.
We are working very hard to get Alexis transferred to another hospital in Guadalajara, but until we are able to secure a bed for him, we have to make sure that he's taken care of at the current hospital. We are grateful that he is getting good care right now, and we do not want that to stop until we have a new plan in place for continuation of treatment.
We need your help to pay for Alexis's daily stay and treatment in the hospital in Mexico. We are starting with a fundraising goal of $2500. Anything you donate will go directly towards paying his daily hospital bill.
Thank you for your generosity, and more importantly, thank you for your prayers for Alexis. <3
