EDIT: 04/11/25
I’m just going to update this as things progress. My land lady is delaying her move some, so I now have more (still unknown amount) of time left to find a new place!

EDIT: 04/10/25
Hello again. Another sad update. So my landlord is moving out and handing the place I’m at back over to her ex husband. Meaning I need to leave before the utilities get shut off. I had hoped my family could help me, but my sister is now in a court battle thanks to her baby daddy having stolen guns and drugs in her home.

My sister is being burden with proving her innocence and getting her family back, while I now fight to stay alive myself. I have maybe 30ish hours. Maybe less if she decided to leave early.

My medical issues have worsened as well. My diabetes and thyroid have bother gotten worse while I now have cholesterol issues and am now going to be seen and test for muscular sclerosis in a few months. As you can see, things aren’t looking good for me. This is my update, I’m sorry it’s not a happy one.

EDIT: 01/29/25 UPDATE:
Hello! So I'm updating this to let people know I'm in a semi stable home now! One of my best friends convinced her family to let me stay with them.

Things are still really hard, I'm having issues getting around thanks to unreliable transportation and insurance being very uppity over certain medicines I need. A Lot more is happened but I honestly will just sound like a broken record. So here's a recap: Thieves, hospital trip, more thieves and a broken car.

I appreciate everyone whose trying to help me! I still need as much assistance as possible but i know not everyone can help me. Ill keep my my original post on here so people have some context for what happened and what I'm going through. I appreciate you all!

EDIT: 11/28/2024:
Hello! I'm sad to say this isn’t a very good update. Sadly I am unable to move in with my friends, as I can’t legally be added to their lease thanks to me apparently having collections against me.

I say apparently because I had 0 idea about this. I've never been contacted about it, and no background checks I or my case worker have done have brought it up. I only know about it now thanks to the renter in California informing me of it. Because of this I'm now back at square 1 with only a month to somehow find somewhere safe.

I'm raising the GoFundMe goal to have some kind of hope, even if it's just a dream. I won't sugar coat this, but there's a high chance that I won't make it long into 2025. I will be leaving my step moms home by Jan 1st, whether I have a residence or not. I'm seeking government assistance, but the reality is that they won't be able to assist me in time. I'm grateful for everyone that's helped me so far. I’m not sure where I'll end up, or if ill even make it to my 24st (Feb 21) birthday. But regardless I’m going to try my best, for my friends and for what little family I have left (even though they can't help me). I’ll keep my medical issues and such on here, and why I need assistance so people will still understand more of my situation.

Hopefully I’ll be back with a better update one day. Thank you all.

ORIGINAL POST:
Hi! I'm Alexis (Or Para, to my online friends),
I’m currently editing this now that I’m not panicking and freaking out over things I can't control.

To start off, I’m a 23 year old woman, currently living in Missouri (USA). I've been living with my step family since July (7th? 8th?) of 2023, after being self admitted to a mental ward. This was also after I nearly died at my Bio moms and after breaking up with my partner at the time.

I've had to stay with them, as I have some severe medical issues that make living alone hard, or sometimes impossible. My father passed away last December on the 21st, and since then things at my Step mothers has been hard. Honestly she's been a great person and way more support than I expected. But my health has declined and I've become a nuisance. She wants a home free of kids, and since I'm unable to work properly, that includes me. I've tried to get disability, but it's very long and hard to do so in my state. At the moment I have until Jan 1st 2025 to find somewhere to go, because I CAN NOT stay under her roof. The issue is I can't stay with anyone here. My bio Mom is homeless herself, bouncing between my Sister (Who has 2 young children and is already struggling with funds) and her current boyfriend. Because of this I looked into possible shelters, but since I have no children and don't have legal disability papers I don't qualify to be housed.

This is terrifying for me because this puts me in direct danger. I have a blood disorder, type 2 diabetes, Underactive thyroid, chronic paranoia (+hallucinations), severe iron deficiency (+malnutrition) and severe anxiety/panic. Without a way to store my medications properly there is almost a 100% of them being stolen, lost or broken. Without my medicine I can/will/have-had frequent panic attacks, passing out/seizures, hallucinations, debilitating chest pain and my chances of death or coma increase significantly.

(Death because I can’t live without my Blood Thinner as its stopping my blood from clotting/congealing in my lungs. Coma due to being without insulin for my high diabetes, this can also cause death.)

Here is a list of my medical conditions and how they affect me:

-Factor V: Blood clotting disorder that makes my blood very thick, causing bad blood clotting in my body. Usually in the legs or lowers appendages (such as artery veins or pelvic area), but sadly in my case they form in my lungs or shoot up from my legs and pelvis into my lungs. I’ve been seen at the hospital 5-7 times for blood clotting and have two operations (Thrombectony x2) to save my life as long chain of blood clots were blocking my airway and pressing on my heart. This happened twice, the first being the worst, but the operation was much easier on me. The second was less dangerous (a smaller saddle pulmonary embolism) but was much more traumatic on me. This is due to me waking up during the operation, and not being believed after when I tried explaining how I felt unwell. Soon after discharge I was diagnosed with Covid for the 4th time.

-Manic Episodes: I suffer from hallucinations, both visual and auditory. This causes increased heart rate and chest pain from fear of being harmed. This is theorized as being caused from severe trauma. Both childhood and medical. [edited 04-11-25]

-Chronic Anxiety: High stress causes physical pain, body tremors and high blood pressure to dangerous levels, as I’m already at high risk for a stroke thanks to my blood disorder.

-Chronic Depression: I’ve sadly been to my local ward for having suicidal ideation in 2023. I am no longer suicidal (trying to keep on track with taking medicine) but have very little joy or pleasure in life.

-Chronic Paranoia: I'm scared that I’ll be hurt by unknown forces outside my control, to the level that I am self isolated. This plays into my seizures, depression and hallucinations.

-Sensory Issues: My skin will randomly flare up and feel as if I’m burning or being stuck by needles. Headaches and fatigue follow after causing me to feel worse. This is thought to be a side effect of my Diabetes.

-Diabetes: I have an A1c of 10.8, my blood sugar is rarely (if ever) below 200 even when fasting and having insulin. The human body can enter a coma if your blood sugar is over 400 for too long. This also causes me personally to have memory issues or “brain fog”, mobility issues, eye strain and confusion.

-Malnutrition: Severe vitamin deficiency + anemic, meaning my body isn’t getting what it needs to sustain itself or carry oxygen in my blood, along with not getting/absorbing the nutrients and proteins I need for my nerves, heart or bones.

-Underactive Thyroid: This causes my issues for me, such as weight gain, unstable moods, heart strain/chest pain.

-Seizers: I have been having fainting issues/seizers since my first pulmonary embolism (blood clot in lungs). I have fallen over, unresponsive for anywhere between a few seconds to a minute or two. My entire body goes numb and cold, my vision is completely black and my hearing is made into static. I have only a few seconds to realize it will happen before I fall over limp, completely out of my control. This has happened at home, in stores, in parking lots, at the mental ward (also threw up that time) and while walking to my job. (Almost in the street, was fired next day.)

Complex Tooth Extraction [On Going]: I currently have had 12 out of my 32 teeth removed from my mouth. I only have 6 of my top teeth, 4 on the left and 2 on the right. On my bottom both my molars are gone thanks to impaction, infection and bad decay. I currently need to have ALL my remaining teeth removed with a second oral surgery and get a set of false teeth.

[Currently seeking help for possible PTSD/CPTSD from medical malpractice, and possible celiac disease]

At the moment I can only try to apply for HUD which is a state assistance to get housing. It may take months to years to see anything from this though. I'm trying my best, but I don't know what to do anymore besides trying to do whatever my case worker can help me with.

[Funny Note: My doctor and nutritionist are both surprised I haven't been in a diabetic coma yet!]
