At just 20 years old, Alexis Kail has faced unimaginable heartbreak. In less than a year, she lost both of her parents- her mother, Ruby Kail, to cancer in June 2025, and her father, Mark Kail, to a sudden heart attack in April 2026. Alexis, their only child, is now left to navigate the world without the two people who loved and supported her most.

Despite the weight of her grief, Alexis remains determined to honor her parents’ dreams for her future. Ruby and Mark always wanted nothing more than to see their daughter graduate from college, something they were never able to achieve themselves. Now, Alexis is on the verge of completing her final year at Tulane University, where she is pursuing her passion for archaeology.

This summer, Alexis has an incredible opportunity to attend an archaeological field school in Ecuador, where she will gain hands-on experience that will help propel her toward her goal of becoming an archaeologist.
