Please Help Alexis Recover From Stroke Following Childbirth

Just days after welcoming her beautiful baby into the world, Alexis suffered a stroke as the result of an undiagnosed hole in her heart (PFO). What should have been a joyful and peaceful time quickly turned into a medical emergency and the beginning of a long and difficult journey toward recovery.

Doctors believe that while the stroke may have occurred at some point in the future, the strain of childbirth was likely the cause that triggered the stroke at this time. Because of the undetected heart defect, the stroke was able to travel to her brain. Alexis underwent emergency treatment and now faces a long recovery ahead, including multiple surgeries, which includes surgery to an aneurysm that was also discovered while she was in the hospital.

Despite everything, Alexis continues to show incredible strength, determination, and a positive spirit each day. Her path to healing involves extensive neurological rehabilitation and cardiac care — all while trying to be there for her newborn and her other children.
