Help Alexis and Arielle's Family Rebuild After NorCal Fire
Donation protected
Hello everyone! My name is Alexis and I am organizing with my sister Arielle, a GoFundMe in regards to a building fire that affected our family and their livlihood in Northern California.
Unfortunately, on the afternoon of Saturday, June 8, 2024, an apartment in the same building complex in which my mother, stepfather, brother, and family dog live in caught fire. There have been damages to all the apartment buildings in this complex, including my family's home. Luckily, my stepfather went away with no injuries and was able to save the family dog whilst the fires were taking place. Serendipitously, my mother, brother, sister and I left in the early morning on the same day towards Disneyland for a family trip to celebrate my brother's high school graduation achievements.
When my mother came back to NorCal to assess the damages with my stepfather, they were told by the housing management that all residents who lived in this building were not allowed to return or expect to live in their homes. My mother and stepfather only had 1-hour of time to grab as many precious belongings as they could, only to also find out that there has been additional theft that took place: their important documents such as their birth certificates, social security cards, passports, as well as precious family jewelry was stolen. All other items that they posessed in their family home must be completely let go of.
My family is currently displaced and living in a hotel until June 27th, they are looking for a new home to live in. As my family survives from paycheck to paycheck, they do not have the additional emergency funds to easily move into a new home on top of exisiting bills and the everyday.
So I come to the community to ask for help: If you have the means, it would be so very appreciated to make a donation and to help my family get through this tough and unexpected transition. Your donation will go towards a first and last deposit for a new apartment rental, as well as costs for food, clothes, and toiletries, as they have lost everything and will need to rebuild from the ground up.
It always takes a community — thank you in advance for taking the time to read about our story in such unfortunate times! If you do not have the monetary means, please share the story on social media <3
