Hello,
I’m a fourth-year medical student preparing to start Family Medicine residency and I’m asking for help getting through what I hope to be is my last financial hurdle. I need help covering moving expenses, purchasing a used car, and paying off my remaining medical school balance ($2,000). Because I don’t have a co-signer, I’m not eligible for residency and relocation loans. Coming from a low socioeconomic background, medical school has been a significant financial burden, and I really need help with this transition.
I’ve been working part-time at Goodwill while completing full-time clinical duties, so I couldn’t work enough hours to meet my need. I’m planning to work until May 30th. I haven’t had a break since summer of 2023, so I need I few weeks to rest before residency starts.
My goal is to raise $6,000 - $10,000. Asking for financial help is difficult, and I know this is a lot of money to ask for. These funds will allow me to pay off my remaining school balance, have reliable transportation to my hospital and clinics, and help with remaining moving and living expenses. I want to begin residency rested, focused, and ready to be the physician I’ve always dreamt of being.
I’ve worked extremely hard to make it this far, but I wouldn’t have been able to achieve all that I have without the support of others. I will spend my career paying it forward and I’m committed to improving the financial stress medical school puts on students with similar needs. Your support is greatly appreciated! Please donate and share. Thank you for your time!
