My name is Alexandria, I am a 37 year old mama of a beautiful baby boy who is 1 year old and I have recently been diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer & neoplasm-associated anemia. This news has been difficult for my husband and me to process, having just started our family together and with the heart to continue growing it.
As we begin this journey, to ensure that Ezra (our 1 year old son) has a healthy and loving mama for as long as possible, we know that the road ahead will have its challenges. This year has been filled with countless medical appointments, surgery, multiple hospitalizations, upcoming treatments, and the physical and emotional toll that comes with battling this disease. Unfortunately, the emotional, physical, and financial impact of cancer treatment is overwhelming, and we need help to ensure we can afford the best care possible so that Ezra can have a healthy mama in his life. While we do have health insurance that covers a portion of the costs, there are high copays and deductibles that we need to meet and we’ve also encountered situations where doctors and clinics are considered out of network and therefore fully out-of-pocket. Furthermore, many clinics do not allow children visitors due to immunocompromised nature of their patients and so we need to secure reliable childcare/ caregiving support at home to ensure our baby is taken care of while his mama focuses on getting better.
