Help Alexandria get a left arm prosthetic

Donation protected
Hey my name is Alexandria. When I was 13 I experienced a traumatic incident that led me to be put into the foster care system. I’m now 31 years old and more than 139 days in recovery. Unfortunately like so many others, I struggled with substance use—and at my lowest point, I was using a drug called xylazine, also known as “tranq.” It caused severe wounds, and two years ago, one of them became so bad that I lost my left arm above the elbow. At 17 even though I was taken from my family my experience with the Sellers family changed my life. I was lucky enough to be put with a very diverse family with both parents having a darker skin tone then me and having adopted 3 sets of sisters and having 3 biological children. The Sellers family had fostered over 100+ foster children and dedicated their lives to helping teens. The Sellers family showed me unconditional love and compassion when I needed it the most. I was always a sweet girl but feel like the Sellers family only inspired me more to serve the Lord. I not only live my life by the meaning of Agape however I try to do all things with love in my heart. In my opinion having sympathy and empathy are two of the most important qualities a person can have and me getting a functional bionic prosthetic arm is going to change my life. I honestly and genuinely want to make change in the world and this has been the most humbling and painful experience of my life. But it’s also been a turning point. I’ve worked hard to be here, and I’m working even harder every day to stay in recovery. Ive chosen to take responsibility for my past and fight for a better future.

Now I want to give back. I want to go to school to become a nurse. I’ve already finished my prerequisites for nursing, and I’m the first participant to graduate from college in the housing program I am in. I want to help people who are hurting & vulnerable like I once was. But to do that, I need a prosthetic arm—something that will give me more independence and the ability to fully participate in life again.

I’m asking for your help. Whether you can give a little or a lot, your support will make a real difference—not just in helping me regain function, but in giving me the chance to thrive, not just survive.

Thank you for reading my story and believing in second chances.

With love,
Alexandria
